Glad you found that. I did the same. Running it through the main harness grommet made me nervous 😬 I used wire sleeve to reduce any chafing and replaced the body grommet for my power and ground wires. Nice and clean. I ran a ground from the battery to where I needed it to ensure I have zero...
It surprised me too. I kept thinking how in the heck is this thing going to fit. Obviously it does, but I had my doubts. The pipe diameter and the CATs themselves are bigger. Just above the transmission support, where the two down pipes join, there is a 1/4” gap, pretty dang tight. To protect...
I don’t know about the OP, I don’t know about EGT, I saw no change in boost, except for slightly quicker throttle response. I did notice a drop in CAT temps. I have a little 1/4 mile stretch of flat, straight road where I can hit 4K-ish RPM (I never floor my truck, I don’t need to). I use OBD...
I’m a DIY type and I have trust issues, so I ordered it myself. Mainly so I can inspect the package and make sure there were no surprises. I did call a couple of local muffler shops and they would do the install for $250. They said they would remove the transmission cross member to preserve the...
I have a FP/Whipple, which is basically a Stage 1 with slightly less power and a couple more nannie’s enabled that Ford wanted.
I have SPD Alpha CATs. I did a bunch of research and even GESI CATs are not perfect. Even ceramic vs metal substrates have pros and cons. I talked with SPD numerous...
I run 7.5 quarts. That way I have a 1/2 quart for the next oil change. I change mine every 5K miles and have never used any oil. I don’t race around, maybe a spirited moment here and there, but that’s about it.
I looked into those as well, paired with the SPD alpha cats and pipes. I’m not looking for gains, but for getting the hot air out as quickly as possible. I read somewhere that the stock exhaust manis flow plenty and that the stock cats are the biggest bottle neck. So, I opted for only doing the...
I’ll pile on here… it’s raining this morning… normally I change my own oil. As others have said it’s therapeutic, you know the drain plug isn’t over tighten, the old oil filter gasket came off with the filter, etc. Against my better judgment, I used the “jiffy” change place twice on two...
Improved Racing claims 95-98% efficiency. I my experience with UPR (est. ~95% efficiency) and J&L (est. 80-90% efficiency) I have some amount of oil in the output hose. Catching some percentage is better than letting 100% get to the intake IMO...
In my experience with UPR and J&L, don’t expect them to catch 100% of the blow by. I own a ’22 5.0. At 100 (now have 22K) miles I purchased a UPR. Every 1000 miles or so I remove the output hose. I take a Q-Tip and rub it around the inside of the connectors and the cotton is always covered in...
Good, what was the problem?
The belt tension pulley has a step spacer sandwiched between the pulley and the idler bracket. The step spacer is meant to install one way, but if you flip around it fits too but now the pulley has excessive play.
Enjoy your new found power ;-)
As others have said… I bought a Dee Zee brand bed mat for my 2018, moved it to my 2020, and moved it again to my 2022. Holds up in the Texas sun and various cargo types, still looks new, no issue whatsoever. +1 on a bed mat over a spray in liner…
I looked into this at one time. Since the 5.0 doesn’t have (rightly so) a nifty stock boost gauge like the Eco’s, us boosted 5.0 guys have to add it. Like you I have a Whipple, so I contacted them. They recommended connecting directly to a 1/8” NPT port near the vacuum actuator on the front...
