Michelin Defenders MX2 recently put on my pickup.
v8/3.31/Super Cab/8' box/4x4
Pretty touchy taking off on damp or wet roads
Issues may also include the oils and crap continually leaking onto the roadway from others.
The worst wet road is generally the first wet road after a long dry spell.

I believe those tires were from the 70s. Also a piece of crap tire.
My dad had just had a set installed on his 72 Riviera and all four tires failed between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. This was 1973 or 1974 During the summer
21 XLT 4x4 v8 (Built Jan 24 ,2021--delivered Feb 10, 2021)
Just turned to 50K
Wiper Arm, Wiper Motor, Seat belt recalls early on.
Battery issues--until I replaced the Ford with an H8
1 Tire Pressure Monitor
Most of this within the first year.
Nothing but 5k oil changes from then on to now...
21 XLT 4x4 SuperCab 8ft bed 5.0
Recently had the Defenders put on my pickup.
OEM were the Michelin Primacy White Letter sidewall (Kinda miss them)
At just a hair under 50k, I got a sidewall cut and just went and got new tires. Was hoping for 60-70K, but that was not in the cards)
The Defenders...
Someone’s new pickup being transported to a new location. Was anchored over the trucks on the hauler when the tires on the hauler caught fire. Brakes or bearings, can’t remember but a pretty new BMW also suffered 3rd* burns as well..
truck was only a couple of months old and the owner had...
I currently have another 25 5.0 rental with a 3.31 rear end. This thing ain’t leaving anything in the rearview, it’s a dog. So miss my 3.5 3.73
The 5.0 is not a low RPM torque engine. Needs to be wound up for real stuff to happen.
If just putting around town, it behaves like a sleeping baby...
my 21 XLT is the first automatic trans truck I’ve owned.
base v8 manual trucks since the 70s.
Four years and 50k and I’m still looking for a clutch pedal.
My 98 k1500 and both hot rods are sticks
H8 is a tight fit and some tape might have to be removed from the positive battery cable to stretch it to the post. The insulating blanket you have now will not fi. I just deleted mine altogether.
No more electrical issues in a year now.
I have a 21 XLT SuperCab 4x4 with 8’ bed
1-1/2 drop shackles and block removal brought the rear down quite nicely.
(also changed bump stops)
tailgate now at a comfortable height for working on or loading.
truck sits almost level. Console lid stays open. No longer feel like I am going downhill...
Im pretty sure the guy prepping the truck locates and flips the hidden dip switch from destruct at 36k to make it to 100k before he drives it out of the bay if you get the extended warranty
I removed my blocks and put in 1-1/2 lowering shackle.
also replaced the bump stops with a 2 wd version.
Did this about two years ago—no shock changes, no shims.
I have a SuperCab with 8’ box (yep, that long thing)
Ride actually improved, and tailgate ended up at a perfect work height for me...
been driving pretty much exclusively base v8 manual trans pickups since the 70s (still have a 79 c10 I bought new at 18).
I ordered a new 21 XLT 4x4
Amazing all the new frilly stuff that is standard equipment.
Went XLT for interior color, leather wheel & power seat. Could care less about...
Blond, blue eyed, Pollack—trifecta of “dumbass”.
Also not liking changes as I’m getting older and crankier.
the seatbelt thing—the only item on PAGE 2 of that particular menu.
I just noticed the “bar” on the right.
scroll UP and the rest of that stuff miraculously reappeared.
im all better now...
Just had the truck serviced this morning, and I have been in the habit of checking that it has been reset to “100%” as soon as I pick it up.
This morning, the only screen that showed up was the ”Seatbelt”.
Nothing for tire pressure, nothing for oil, nothing for anything else but Seatbelts...
Just replaced the Michelin Primacy OEM tires on my 21 XLT with Defenders. (Sidewall cut on the freeway) was hoping to get another 10k on them, but that was not in the cards.
The Defenders appear to to be exactly the same except for a small “cup” in the edge tread lug.
Load capacity is the same...
not just the AWD feature.
Softer springs on the sedans offer some weight transfer on an already decently balanced vehicle..
Softer tires for a better grip (as much as they can)
Skinnier tires add a bit of weight to contact patch and also do not just polish the ice.
Pretty much why I preferred...
