  1. Man Vs. Ford: 3.5 Powerboost Custom Exhaust Mod

Short version: Ford's Engineers: 0, Me: 1. Long Version. I have been working to fix the Powerboost Exhuast for 3 years. The chief obstacle has been the exhaust heat exchanger. For those still unfamiliar, this is a device plumbed into the exhaust pipe on Powerboosts which has 3 chief...
  2. CSF Radiator Upgrade for 2021+ ECOBOOST (3.5 and 2.7)

    Radiator upgrade!
  3. Connector Repin

I am working on following HammaMan's guide on redoing the connectors to get vented/heated seats in an XLT. I'm replacing the wheel with a heated one and climate control module at the same time, so I may need to mess with the climate control module in Forscan as well. Bottom line, I haven't...
  4. Spark Plug Change 3.5

For those interested, I recently changed the plugs on my PB. I got the initial set from a major dealer, but they were wrong because mid year in 2021, Ford switched from tapered seat to a copper gasket. FordTechMakuLoco has a great video on this, and THAT was my resource for finding the correct...
  5. FULL Custom Exhaust

So I've been rattling on about exhaust for a long time. The goal has always been a full custom system from heads to tailpipe. Today I made a big jump, with 49 state Flowmaster cats AND the crossover pipe dropped into the increased vertical clearance space made by my skid plates. I was...
  6. I Used My Paint to Mark a Fire Hydrant, Now I want Fender Flares

So, good news first: I got ALL of my cats replaced with a pair of 49 state Flowmasters and so far no codes; will update on that separately. Bad news: While attempting to park near the fully occupied exhaust shop, I found an 18" tall unmarked fire hydrant in the middle of the neighboring parking...
  7. A Vote for the 5.0

I randomly met a guy at a bar who was looking for a farm truck and he was stuck between a '17 3.5 and a '13 5.0 that was about $10k less with same miles. I suggested that for his purpose (hauling lighter stuff to and from farm), the 5.0 would be better because he 1) had no control of the...
  8. Fuel Door

Has anyone looked at replacing the PB fuel door with the normal one? If it's just fooling the sensor into thinking the door is closed and adding the fuel door from a normal f150, it seems like it would be doable. I'm tried of randomly ripping the plastic cover off and unscrewing the retainer stud.
  9. Real World Weight

CAT scales are very easy to use, and cost about 10 minutes and $14. I have a '21 PB 4x4 #7350 GVWR; #4150 rear axle with a bunch of garbage bolted to it, so I decided to get a weight. With a full gas tank and all of my stuff, I got 3660 front/3000 rear total #6660. Add #150 of me and you have...
  10. Powerboost Rock Sliders

Maybe a niche thread, but RCI already told me to pound sand and that their stock rock sliders won't fit a PB frame. Rocky Road Outfitters were a lot more helpful, and actually volunteered to make me a set if I can road trip over there and give them the truck for a few days. They are out in...
  11. Wet Belts......Nobody Could've Predicted This

Re: 1.0 Fox, equally applicable to every wet belt. I cannot understand the decision by Ford: there were at least two simple, cheap, reliable, well-tested and common solutions, but Ford chose to combine elements of both in a manner that was more expensive, untried and ultimately far less...
  12. Flowmaster DBX

This is part of my ongoing redo of the factory exhaust system, but it has enough general appeal that I'm making an independent thread. I finally got rid of the hybrid exhaust heat exchanger (for whose who don't have a PB, it's a coolant loop that an electronic gate can put into contact with the...
  13. Help me ID A connector

I'm still waiting on MegaOhm to work out their bypass circuit for the PB exhaust heat exchanger, and I thought I would spend a bit more time tinkering. I have all of the parts, and the only remaining hurdle is connecting the dummy circuit to the turck's harness. I'm still trying to work out...
  14. TransferFlow Tank

The biggest mod that I want to do to the PB is a larger fuel tank, ideally >40 gallons. There's no way to achieve this myself, and thus the only real avenue is convincing TransferFlow that enough PB owners are interested to justify their fixed costs. Further, there is a risk that the battery...
  15. Seat Upgrade

I am getting the climate control module to control my heated steering wheel, and wanted to see about getting vented seats as well. I chatted with the folks at Leatherseats.com, as they got me my initial seat covers, and their heated/vented system is meant to completely replace the factory...
  16. PutCo Taillight Bars: Not Their Fault, But Not Great

So a while back I bought a rear LED brake/turn light bar form Ford that is a PutCo rebrand......Ford puts on some connectors and it's plug and play. I tried to install it and found that I had gotten the one for the Lariat+ with LED taillights, which meant that the connectors and box were...
  17. Putco/Ford Rear LED Taillight Assembly didn't work

So I bought this light bar to round out a purchase from the Ford shop to get the 20% discount.....was on the fence on it regardless, but said "why not?". It was a mistake for a few reasons: 1) Ford DOES NOT SORT accessories by your selected trim, even if the VIN is entered in their website...
  18. Powerboost Exhaust Heat Exchanger Delete

I have been laboring under and spreading lies. I thought that the exhaust to coolant heat exchanger in the Powerboost is part of the low-temp battery loop and was designed to make sure that the LiFePO4 battery quickly gets above freezing temperatuure so that it can be charged (i.e. used at all)...
  19. WeBoost Radio Antenna

I'm busy mounting my WeBoost and I'm considering two options for mounting the antenna. Option 1: Mount it inside my fiberglass bed topper. This is pretty easy, but requires me to drill holes in the cab and bed for the wire. I don't know how much FRP attenuates cell-band RF, so the risk is...
  20. Custom Exhaust

I'm looking at doing a staged upgrade of my exhaust system. Part 1 will be a resonator delete, muffler replacement with a 70 series Flowmaster and application of gold foil to the battery and inverter heat shields. That's all pretty standard, and I'll let you guys know how loud it is. Part 2...
