I suppose I could but not sure it would help because GM isn't going to do any warranty work based on oil analysis. So still at the mercy of an actual failure. And, I'm ready for that truck new smell. ;)
Updating an old thread.
It's time to move on from my GMC. It never spent a night at the service dept. Oil changes, tire rotations and a software update.
I'll be honest. There are some 6.2l engine failures happening. That wouldn't be terrible if they would have replacement engine...
The only time Michigan has salty roads is IN the winter. Like today with freezing rain. I'll be taking my truck thru the wash tomorrow.
And yep, my driveway is a skating rink. Put salt down about 2 hours ago to take wife to Dr's appt.
No way am I going to turn on the outside water, try to straighten out a frozen hose then spray water that'll turn my driveway and sidewalk that neighbors use into a skating rink. Then, reverse the process and spread salt on the driveway and sidewalk.
I go thru the car wash and accomplish the...
I just go thru the car wash 2 or 3 times a week. I have a monthly unlimited plan. And, like mentioned above, I don't hang on to them long enough for it to be a problem. I'm trying to decide to order a 2025 or wait another 6-8 months and order a 2026. Either way, it'll be a 3.0l diesel.
I hopefully have a few more years left with my bud. I hope I can outlive him. At my age it's not a given. I want to be the one gazing in his eyes on his last day.
I've had around 10 trucks with power running boards. Never had a failure. The latest style Ford and GM are using don't drop when they deploy. They just swing out. That makes for a big step compared to Amp Research that drop as they deploy. Because the GM boards don't drop, they can swing back to...
This issue is what drove me away from Ford. Ford decided that it was the electric drive unit/motor (educated guess by Ford techs not the dealer). That is a major task that took the dealership a week to accomplish. The truck never shifted correctly after. I wanted out of it and was willing to...
Well I was happy to see Majeski win the truck series in a Ford last night.. I really don't hate Ford but I won't give them anymore of my money as long as they keep eliminating content and build a below average quality truck. I'm not crazy with what Stellantis is doing to Dodge, Ram and Jeep. As...
Yep, I stop by every week or so when I'm bored.
So, did Ford eliminate the daytime running lights and start using the blinkers because they keep burning out? That is going to be an expensive problem/fix.
Oh yeah, Ford decided to build the Nautilus in China. Brilliant.
I'm not a CR fan by any means but there are other sources that are reporting F series decline in quality. Even Farley has admitted it and will take years to "fix". Check out JD Power (that Ford dominated for years) full size truck ratings...
Wrong.... The F150 sat #1 for many years on JD Power. So Ford was paying for that? No, Ford used to make "Quality Job 1" trucks. No more. And also no, some not all GMCs are made in Mexico. Don't throw stones about that when Ford is building all their Lincoln Nautilus suvs in China and importing...
Steal one of the wife's cookie trays and put it under the truck until Ford hopefully fixes it. That's what I've done for years with my old cars that invariably drip from sitting and seals drying up.
Y'all might want to check out the latest JD Power full size truck quality rankings. F150 was in...
Do a build and price for a Silverado High Country with all options that are standard on the 1500 Sierra Denali Ultimate. Not thousands apart. If you don't want the GMC Denali standards then yep a Silverado can save you money.
Actually my better reply should have been to look into the Ram Ramcharger phev. That would be a way better truck for my use. If it comes in Tungsten trim level and if it gets good JD Power ratings. But, I'm not looking to swap.
There was mention of lifter failures. Yep in the previous gens but...
