  1. So, this is weird, in a not good sort of way

Went out to the truck today and saw this. No idea. No other signs of attempt at theft or vandalism. Haven't been on any particularly rough roads lately, or in the bush, where some freakish chance of something poking it just right could have occurred. There is a springy type plastic part of a...
  2. PB MPG, Outside temp, matters more than fuel grade.

Unless towing in the mountains, I normally run Tier 1, 87 octane. We're still on winter grade fuel. Or would have been, when I last fueled in prep for a coming storm. Hell, it seems we were in single digits just days ago but yesterday, it was 80F+and I had to make an errand run of about 30...
  3. Both coolant reservoirs at min.

No puddles on the garage floor and I checked the oil. Not milky. Keep an eye on temp gauges. All normal there. Where is it going? Also, at my local O'Reilly's Motorcraft coolant, is 30 bucks a bottle. All I get from the owner's manual, is a motorcraft part number. Anyone know the current spec...
  4. Traction oddity.

More snow this winter than last, so I've had the chance to get to know the truck's capabilities without having to put it in the mud, or push it too hard in the rain. Factory Wrangler ATs. No weight in the rear, more than the stuff I always carry. Something around a hundred lbs. spread between...
  5. I've been keeping a secret.

Not really a secret, just hadn't mentioned it, unless and until there was cause. On our western trip last summer, someone did a hit and run in a parking lot, damaging the drivers rear fender, just under the PPOB. Just barely creased it and broke through the finish paint, about 1/8" x 3/4". I...
  6. I really don't get the PB hate.

Other than some early electrical gremlins, fully and still, completely cured, by doing this, https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/no-more-battery-problems.24011/ My truck has and continues to, https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/exceeding-expectations.25663/ Saw a review vid from Ben...
  7. TPMS battery life?

Anyone know how long the sensor battery life is?
  8. Adaptive cruise question.

When using the adaptive cruise and it recognizes a slower speed and slows down, do the brake lights come on? There is a 10mph difference in a local construction zone and when it changes from 55 to 45, its fairly abrupt. Also, same ? re when using just enough brake on a powerboost to activate...
  9. TT Solar array expansion and electrical upgrade complete.

I did mine in phases. 600ah of LiFePO4 batts, with a 2,400W inverter /charger and a solar charge controller big enough to handle the now, 1,200 watts on the roof. It came with 200W The first part was done last spring, the panels were done just before winter hit. Still need to do roof wire...
  10. Service from Granger?

Lots of people here have bought trucks from Granger Ford, as did I. The experience and pricing, couldn't have been better but has anyone had service done there? We're deep into a 4K+ mile trip with our TT and the timing and routing, will be about right to have the truck's 10K mile service done...
  11. Exceeding expectations

Hello from The Continental Divide. Towing something less than 7k lbs. through the Rockies is no problem at all and the truck's capabilities continue to impress. Anyone who tells you that you need a diesel, or a SD truck, is way out of date. More than enough power to maintain the speed limits...
  12. OK, I hate Android Auto, a little less today.

Using RV Trip Wizard, for trailer safe routing and learned how to incorporate that app and it's map, through Android Auto, onto the big screen. Including turn by turn directions. And not just the map. The whole trip, meaning you don't have to re-enter anything each time you turn off the truck...
  13. Gauge choice

Got a big tow coming up and between the heat the country is having now and the mountains we'll be crossing, wondering about gauge choice. Currently, oil pressure, coolant temp, turbos and fuel. I like the turbos showing, so I can try to stay out of them but thinking trans temp should go there...
  14. PPOB observation.

Someone may have the exact number but something I noticed on a recent RV trip, was that when charging the batts and the watts the truck was delivering to the inverter / charger, were above 1750 ish, the ICE ran full time but when below, it cycled from ICE to HVB and back. I LOVE this truck!
  15. I don't know how you guys do it.

All the black, I mean. I wish whoever thought it was a good idea to put gloss black wheels on my TT, would come by and clean them once in a while. They suck.
  16. 2nd trip to the scales.

A lot of changes since the first. Post 8, if interested. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/first-big-tow-coming-up.18998/ This time, the trailer has a couple hundred pounds of "off grid" electrical gear, has had its suspension upgraded with the CRE3000 with the hvy duty shackle kit, is...
  17. Off Roading? Some pretty tiny wires under there.

Any of you guys who have done any sort of major mods already know this but I haven't actually spent much time under the truck, other than to take a quick look around and snap a pic of the spare tire and the hitch label. While installing SumoSprings yesterday, I noticed some fairly dainty...
  18. We have better cameras.

Brother in law has newish (2021?) GMC Denali HD, loaded. He asked me to back it up to a pallet of top soil, while he went in to pay. On my truck, the back up camera is dead on accurate. If I just see the white line in a parking spot, peaking out beneath the rear bumper, that is reality. On...
  19. Stiffening up the land yacht

It didn't take many trips with the TT to decide to up the tire pressure from the door sticker's 36psi to 45 and it definitely helped with body roll. Even for daily driving, I keep them at 40. We've got some long trips planned this yr. crossing the Rockies and mostly boondocking, so some off...
  20. Going for The Works.

There will come a time, when I'll change the oil and other general maintenance myself but I'm gonna be working this thing hard in the next couple months, with a month long, 4K ish mile TT trip across the Rockies and back and I want the thorough check up The Works provides and no crap about it...
