This is the way and what I do as well. Especially with warmup in cold climates when first driving and wanting to make sure fluid temps, eg, oil temps reach most the way to full operating temps to boil off any condensation or fuel dilution.
Don't forget, replace that Aux battery under the rear passenger seat as well. When one goes bad, typically the other running in a switched parallel circuit is also not great.
I once heard that the rear external break light over the rear window is known to leak and leak a lot for intrusion of water into the cab. I would pull that lens and check for signs it has had a lot of dampness.
I made the switch some months ago on my 21, PB Limited. I was running Pennz Ultra Platinum w/Boss Filters. Lab analysis on the UP oil showed high viscosity shear rate, meaning it was breaking down in viscosity too quickly. I ran the first go around with R&P for 1000 miles, then dumped it with...
Totally agree. Those techs are in many cases too busy to sit most of a day or several hours baby sitting updates as they are not getting paid by Ford under any sort of reasonable rate to do that work. These updates to the customer should be seemless and if needed, a prompt to connect the battery...
i will put the truck in tow haul mode if I am short-tripping a bit as it runs the motor more and less on the hydrid battery just to make sure my temp range is decent. Countless videos and particularly a few from Lake Speed of SpeedDiagnostix, a tribologist has painfully pointed out that short...
As mentioned by others here. AGM is about ~ 15v charging and has a resting voltage of about 12.8v to 13.2 when fully charged. Flooded cell is lower with AGM having higher charge and float voltages.
Question: what are you syncing maybe Apple CarPlay and if so, what are you using for the default mapping scheme? I found that if I use Apple Maps, the speed limit is constantly wrong on the display. But, if I use Waze, the speed limit display is always right and I believe it’s an issue with...
I appreciate the feedback and guidance. Locking out 9th and 10th gear under manual gear selection may make a big difference in the scenario that I was running the truck under. What I’ve also found, is it my tendency around town as I have been running the truck on short trips in which the natural...
I have a battery monitor as well, actually 2 on my Powerboost. 14.8 to 15v is absolutely normal charging voltage on batteries that are AGM. A resting voltage of 12.2 is a bit low likely caused by parasitic drain while the truck is off over time is not unusual, but a bit low and I am sure the...
Leaf springs are an absolute requirement if you want to have max payload and towing capacity. Independent rear suspension will not get you top numbers, eg, RAM 1500 is derated because of its cushy ride and isn’t well suited for max numbers and Ford has always been in that game for max towing and...
I believe what you’re referring to is a common design shared amongst all the manufacturers that they call cab forward design. I’ve seen this in Dodge Chevrolet, Ford, and even some of their Japanese competitors.
He’s a great, great Toyota mechanic and since I own 2 Toys and a Lexus, I have watched a fair number of his video. I appreciate his review on this truck and while I differ with him about some of his opinions since I drive a PB Limited, I appreciate that he isn’t a brand specific zealot that...
