You guys realize insurance fraud has quite hefty consequences, yeah? F-150 resale value isn't super low like some other vehicles either, it makes no sense to do this intentionally. Bummer for the owner for sure.
Mine arrived with broken plastic ends, it's a super fragile part and needs to be redesigned in my opinion. I emailed them about it and they sent out a new set, and so far they've held up well enough, I put a bit of automotive tape under them to help secure them a bit.
I'm guessing ground clearance is measured at the lowest point (potentially the front but who knows), and the difference at the tailgate that you're reading could be due to a number of things (weight, tow packages, etc), since they are raked, the difference in between those points (e.g the cab)...
Interesting solution, I think if I was going to do this, I'd put it on the roof instead of the hood. Alternatively, Ford could just make a system that works properly, batteries have been dumb charging for decades just fine. Their "smart" charging system is clearly a failure.

Personally, I'd go for 4x4 on a 150 just because of the resale value hit you'll take down the road if you choose to get rid of it. Demand for 2wd f-150's is fairly slim, whereas I think you might be able to get away with it for the 250/350 f-series as dedicated tow vehicles.
Good to hear amongst all of the doom and gloom about powerboosts online! I'm definitely not in that camp as I've only put ~2000 miles on it over the last 6 months. Thanks for sharing!
May also want to check if the batteries are the coated ones with bitterant on them to deter children from swallowing them. I've heard that can mess with the contact a bit.
You only change the one address. The 2 things you had to change were different positions of the bytes at that address space. Glad you got it working though!
Hello! I've been lurking around for a while and decided to join after finally joining the club! I just purchased a new 2022 Powerboost XLT, and I'm looking forward to the adventures ahead!
Still waiting on those Powerboost emblems to come in though..
