I added a little Kenwood 2 ch digital amp for just the rear door speakers and replaced the stock speakers with some Skar audio ones. Used a line level converter to get RCA into the amp. Powered it off the baby 12v battery under rear seat. While a low tech solution with not particularly great...
When cell service is available google maps will always be superior. I don't use AA because I can't connect my phone to the Hotspot and AA without a wired connection. But that is the best navigation option IMO
Interesting. There are many places around me that have moved, closed etc and my nav hasn't updated them, years after the moves. It's not the end of the world. Just not as current as I'd hoped.
I find the connected built in navigation maps to be not the greatest. I added it to my build because there are times camping off grid that I'd prefer to have outdated built in maps instead of nothing. I haven't found the traffic and map updates anywhere near as good as various phone nav apps though.
With the new app I can no longer remote lock/unlock my truck. Not the worst thing ever but hardly an improvement over the previous version. At least remote start still works.
I guess the answer is would you want to? I know there's a hell of a rabbit hole you can do down with any system but for what they want for that you could begin implementing a better sub solution.
I was looking at one of the Mobridge DSP/AMP plug and play units to keep things digital and minimize the splicing but, like you, wanted to see if there was any hope with the stock system at all first.
This happened to me last night. 2023 XLT. My wife called and as soon as i picked up a text came thru which rendered the call useless. She had to call back. Strange.
My buddy recommended the Skar audio TX speakers https://www.skaraudio.com/products/tx65-6-5-inch-coaxial-car-speakers
He didn't think it was a great idea to spend a ton on replacement speakers if the DSP would still be the determining factor in the overall sound quality.
I got them on Amazon...
