OK, so no attempt to put any oil in the filter before installing it. I tried that once and it was, as you can imagine, a mess. :)

I bought the F-107N valve for my truck. The little clip that comes with it has held up just fine.

sorry, i'm not saying yours is the wrong size. I had a different brand but same type of swiveling handle filter wrench. Good idea with the ****ing thicket of hoses and whatnot around the filter, but mine was a bit too large of a diameter even after the flip and twist maneuver. :(

I had one of those when I started. It was the wrong size. Too big! :)

mischief managed, but if I were a voodoo priest, I would put the hex on the mechanic who went full hulk mode when they put the filter on. I would also put the whammy on the jackass at Ford who designed the engine bay layout. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. Also, I already have the fumoto...

thanks, what are you using to apply torque to that end cap/cup? extensions with a swivel socket?
