  1. "Please turn off ignition or start vehicle to save battery" message

Don’t know for sure if this works on normal normally aspirated engines, but I did this for a day. Could not take the blower noise. Not just this truck, but on any of my AC vehicles for 40 yrs. Even winters in Idaho, warm up to melt ice and turn the fan backdown to low. Pretty sure the pickup is...
  2. What weird quality issues did you find shortly after buying your truck?

Early ‘21 XLT (Jan build) fuses not fully seated—no biggie Doors not aligned very well, but passable. (No air/water leaks and is quiet so not messed with) Console lid not staying open. I paid extra for buckets and console so Ford got to fix that one. Aside from recalls, this is about it. could...
  3. Add trailer brake controller to 2024

I had the dealer install mine when I bought it. This was early ‘21 tho. Neglected to order the truck with one, so it needed to be added. Had to also wait a couple of months for it to show up.
  4. My F-150 ownership was short lived

I ordered a 21 F150 v8. 4x4. SuperCab 8’ box The biggest reason for going with XLT was for this interior. I got the console tho. The lighter colors seem to open up the cabin a bit so it does not feel so closed in. Every car I’ve owned with a beige interior just seemed more open than any with the...
  5. OT: Anyone still put it in Park ?

Hard for me to be judgemental on this topic. My 21 is the first pickup I’ve ever owned with an automatic trans. Driving standards forevever, I had been in the habit of shutting the down before actually stopping. Whatever gear it was in when I got out would be the gear it was in when I got back...
  6. Pros/cons with my new F150 after a few weeks

21 XLT, 41k on the clock. Jan ‘21 build Pretty quiet Passenger seat make a tiny rattle on bumps. No wind roar with windows up Clamshell doors on driver side occasionally make a noise on a jolt. (Was a concern before I even bought it) This all being mentioned, I do not believe time will prove...
  7. Breaking in? (Not your typical question thread)

This is pretty much how Ive done it since the late 70s. New or rebuilt, no matter. Filter is gonna grab all that heavy crap and hold onto it for a while. 2500-3000 is a decent point if not being hammered on. The caveat is whether the miles are hiway or city. 90% of my stuff is hiway or open...
  8. WTF window won’t stay up

I gotta go with battery not up to snuff. I replaced my second H6 a couple of months ago with an H8 and have not had the issue since. Auto Start Stop started working way too well, and failure to restart has not happened again. Also--Automatic updates have been coming in pretty regular now--I...
  9. When to do first oil change

This is my take on the subject On an engine I had rebuilt, I will go up to 1000 miles before the first change. Has worked well for me since I was a teen. (That first 500 miles is usually “drive it like it’s stolen”) Always went with 4-5000 changes after as most were freeway commuting without a...
  10. Hail Damage to my 2023 F150

Two years on mine, and both sides had plenty of dings. (hood and roof replaced) No issues at all so far.
  11. Hail Damage to my 2023 F150

That black 59, my first restoration project. Someone wanted it real bad, and that paid for the 21 F150 The 66 ElCamino is my fair weather cruiser and long distance show car. Now with multiport fuel injection. I’ve got 20 years with this one. The Ranchero was by far the easiest to bring up...
  12. Replaced my battery with an H8. My observations:

I get to work very early I sit in the truck reading ( or at this moment writing). Peaceful, quiet, pets not bugging me. Been doing this for years, haven’t killed a battery in my Chevy yet. And now I can let that one sit for a couple of months and it will still fire right off.
  13. Hail Damage to my 2023 F150

I have a 65 Ranchero, factory v8/4spd/bucket seat car. Family owned since new. I fit in that car a lot better when I was 5
  14. Hail Damage to my 2023 F150

You got off easy. My truck is unprotected and got nailed by hail in ‘22 Got every panel but the tailgate Roof, windshield and hood were replaced. I think ventless repair everywhere else. Overall pretty happy with the outcome and could care less about resale ( I’ve had one truck 44 yrs, one 25...
  15. 21+ Lowering Shackles Question

Did not loosen the bed at all. Did drop the spare tire for more room to work. I will be honest---I was a good wrestling match, but perseverance may have paid off in the end. Once that bolt comes out and you have the shackle off, you have won the battle. The new shackles are differently designed...
  16. Replaced my battery with an H8. My observations:

My H8 has been in the truck about 30 days. got a couple of updates. Start/Stop has operated more in the last 30 days than it had in the last 3 yrs. Dome lights are always working now. Even tho the truck is accessory mode about 90 minutes every morning. Not fully convinced yet, but have some...
  17. OEM rotors and pads part #

I bought a new Ranger in 2005. that thing was in for brakes three time locally in 30,000 mi. The very first visit, I suggested to the service writer that a caliper was stuck. What they did was turn rotors and drums on each visit. Drums and rotors are certainly gone now! Shortly after that last...
  18. Nice 2024 F-150 XL RCSB 4WD video

Im rural, and seldom deal with city traffic. Ive had short wb 4x4 in the past and even a couple of short 2 wheelers. Not a fan of the choppy rides. Current old truck is a 98 k1500 ext cab. Rides a lot nicer than those shorties ever did. My 21 f150 is a SuperCab w/8’ box. Ordered solely for the...
  19. Motorcraft AGM battery any good?

AGM H8, 900CCA, 160 Reserve Capacity, 95 Amp Hours, Walmart I should note that my XLT is a mid level with the 8” infotainment and a regular old timey key start. Not a lot of fluffy stuff on this pickup. At any rate, 3 batteries in 3 years is too much.
  20. Motorcraft AGM battery any good?

My 21 XLT is now on the third battery. Original replaced at about 18mo after two visits that required more than overnight stays. The replacement battery was just replaced again two weeks after the third year of ownership, by me. I replaced it with an H8 and interestingly enough, everything...
