  1. Topped off 3 clicks and gas spilled out everywhere

On some cars you can put as much as a fallon and a half in after the first click... I've found on the F150 you're done at the first click... like you just proved...
  2. On board Power

While traveling down the road, with another person to operate it, I have made coffee with a Keurig type maker. This requires 1480 watts. You do have to put the truck into generator mode, but while driving it'll handle it just fine.
  3. My first tank of e85, wow

Watch the prices. In Rock Springs, WY, there are two Kum & Go stations that sell E-85. One has a price a dime below 85 octane regular, the other typically is about 80¢/gal below 85 octane regular.
  4. factory oil overfill

Excess overfill is dangerous. If the level in the crankcase is high enough to allow contact with the crankshaft, the oil can foam leading to engine damage...
  5. factory oil overfill

Careful with Blackstone. I found they take so long to return results (eg 5 weeks after receiving sample recently) that it wasn't worth using them. I now use WearCheck.
  6. First Oil Change Mileage?

Well it depends... Is your goal to get to your next trade-in? Or do you want to go several hundred thousand miles? If the latter then change oil ASAP. This is to get out any manufacturing debris present. If the trade-in is the goal, then follow the owners manual schedule.
  7. How to charge properly.

Did some homework... Have been working to make sense of the system voltages I observe on my installed digital voltmeter. Attached is a screen shot of a wikipedia page discussing Lead Acid Batteries. I knew there was a relationship between float voltage and temperature. This screen shot shows it...
  8. New offer from Ford - Does it work with Ordered F150s??

Well... It does say from dealers stock...
  9. Replaced my battery with an H8. My observations:

Forgive me... It's not clear that the H8 battery was the fix. In my observation putting in a non-Ford battery would have fixed things. If you need the extra capacity there's nothing wrong with the H8...
  10. 2kW Pro Power came through for 14 hours of backup power during home power loss

There are two ways a generator can be setup: bonded neutral and floating neutral. In a bonded neutral, as on the 2.4 kw & 7.2 kw, the neutral and ground are bonded together inside the generator. In a floating neutral they are not bonded together. The issue is your house has a neutral ground bond...
  11. New battery; H7 or H8?

Have seen that... Spent more time on the lead acid section... Bottom line: don't get a Lithium battery...
  12. New battery; H7 or H8?

With regard to the cold weather performance of batteries... It is unspoken, but those big cold cranking amps are there specifically to make sure that when cold (I see -20ºF routinely in winter) these is still enough juice in your lead acid battery to crank the engine and generate a spark. Will...
  13. Amsoil 5-30 3.5 Ecoboost

I observed, and administered, the Navy's Oil Analysis Program across several ships (on one of those I was chief engineer). It covered all lubricating oils, diesel, gasoline, steam turbines, air compressors, etc. The results were as valid on every piece of equipment as on the diesels. So, doing...
  14. Charging System Service Soon.

That kind of thing caused me, 4 months after delivery, to just go get a new, off the shelf battery. I'm a NAPA kind of guy. I was on the road for family Thanksgiving travels. So I just pulled into a NAPA store along the way, bought one, dropped it in and kept on Truckin'. As it turns out, not a...
  15. 2023 F150 hybrid oil gauge does not fluctuate

There it is... There what is? The thing is a switch, not a pressure transducer... You can make the pids do what you want... It's still just an on/off switch.
  16. 2023 F150 hybrid oil gauge does not fluctuate

Ford has put in a sensor that provides boost pressure/MAP readings. This is needed for the computer to control spark timing and fuel injector timing. Oil pressure on the other hand is either there or its not... so Ford put in a switch since it doesn't contribute to anything related to engine...
  17. 2023 F150 hybrid oil gauge does not fluctuate

That's because there is no "Oil pressure" to sense. The switch is either closed or open...
  18. 2023 F150 hybrid oil gauge does not fluctuate

These gauges are driven by a switch set about 5#. So either the gauge is mid-range on your panel or it is at zero. The normal engine oil pressure at idle is about 20-25#.
