  1. Afraid To Buy Today’s Ford (Powerboost) Am I Nuts?

When I ordered my '23 PB, I too had spent a lot of time reading here and felt that I was making a bet. I would be betting very specifically that the truck that showed up would be done right, end to end, and I wouldn't need much of the obviously-dismal, current-day excuses for warranty service...
  2. BlueCruise 1.0 thoughts after first long distance use

I just got back from a trip between Las Cruces and San Diego, pretty much the whole length of I-8 and a bit of 10, about 1500 miles all-in. During part of that trip, we drove through the edge of tropical storm Hillary, just outside of Yuma, AZ. There were cross-wind gusts up to maybe 70mph...
  3. I could use some advice from towing experts.

We have a '23 Powerboost Max Tow, 5.5 foot bed, with a Winnebago Minnie that weighs 6,000lb dry. Compared to running an F-250 with a diesel, for example, this is a compromise in one significant way, I think. I manage the cargo capacity problem with great care because it would be easy to go...
  4. Question about Pro Trailer Hitch Assist

Best guess is that you''re right - the truck can't find the hitch ball using the tailgate camera. I have no real-world experience but wonder if there's a second hole the square tube that slides into the receiver, that you could run the hitch pin through instead. Maybe a different angle...
  5. What did you do TO your F-150 today?

Put a graphene coating on my Lomax carbon fiber tonneau cover... Here it is half-done: This wasn't the smartest place to pause for a comparison photo, but a little elbow grease ensured that I didn't have a weird line, at the end of the day, in the center panel. I took the tonneau off...
  6. Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit?

Ugh. The whole "active steering" thing makes me sad. It is also called (I think more appropriately) "adaptive steering". This is separate and apart from "electronic steering" which is essential to letting the wheel be turned by the truck (e.g. for the BlueCruise and trailer backup assist...
  7. Floor mats... The great debate

Good point - I didn't think to take any yesterday. I think they fit in really well with Ford's choices for the Platinum BAP interior. I used a few of the provided clips to hold them down in spots, but not many. They do cover up most of the carpet, but since we'll have dogs in here I think...
  8. Floor mats... The great debate

I put in the Tuxmats today. So glad folks here were talking about them! The valet at Ruth's Chris will be appropriately impressed.
  9. Colorado Roadmaster Active Suspension RAS HD Kit - $350

Hey just a quick shout-out for @WoodlandSK - this new-to-me RAS arrived quickly, as-described, and thoughtfully packed so as to not destroy its own box in transit. In fact that box had Builtright industries logos all over it, which ended up making me smile. I had just ordered a stubby antenna...
  10. 240V vs 120v generator outlets

Theoretically, as long as every load on each of four outlets in that second cord is actually always under 15A, you would be fine and would achieve your objective. 15A * 120V * 4 outlets = 7200 watts. However the truck's circuit breaker isn't going to protect you if, for example, you end up...
  11. Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit?

Pretty sure he doesn't have adaptive steering. They won't let you order that on any 2023 F150, unless something has changed very recently. Doesn't matter what trim you bought in early '23 - Ford deleted the heated steering wheel for you. I just got my '23 Platinum, loaded up like a Limited...
  12. RAPID RED F-150 (2021+) Club

Our Platinum PB BAP just arrived in Las Cruces!

  14. 11/21/22 - Build Week - MY 23

Well, it's only been a few days shy of six months, including two just sitting around at Dearborn, but the truck ('23 platinum powerboost BAP) is finally in my grubby hands! The local dealer tells me this is actually the first BAP they've sold. I spent a couple of hours on the lot, running...
  15. 11/21/22 - Build Week - MY 23

After getting a new ETA window from the dealer today (starts yesterday, ends in less than a week, so that's just nonsense) and confirming that online tracking still shows it to be in Dearborn, I decided to call Ford for the first time. Interesting conversation, sort of. The rep was very polite...
  16. 11/21/22 - Build Week - MY 23

How about not even shipped? Mine is apparently going to sit out the whole winter in Dearborn.
  17. Made a rookie mistake today

Thanks for sharing this. I wonder if the rear diff just didn't lock up, so having it in park only gave you grabby-ness on the wheel that happened to be in the air at the time. Good insight and I'm glad it was not more costly.
  18. 22/23 Built and in Shipping Purgatory ETA (Estimated Time of Absurdity)

My progress milestone for January will evidently be that the little circle under "Built" is now filled in, in green. It isn't blue and isn't checked, and it certainly isn't shipped, but that circle has been stubbornly vacant since a "Built" status was applied with a date of 12/4. Green...
  19. 11/21/22 - Build Week - MY 23

My order status still shows "Built" as of 12/4. I called the dealer a couple of days ago (I had an ETA of 1/9) and he told me it was "in storage", implying to him some sort of mysterious parts hold, with no ETA at all anymore. Last night he left a vmail saying that he'd been wrong about that...
  20. Good jump starter for truck

Y'all made me look, and I found three-year-old Microstart in my motorcycle tool bag that was fine when I charged it last year, and is completely fried (will not accept a charge) now. Found a five-year-old Microstart (same model number, completely different design) in my truck tool bag, and it...
