No longer limited to 100mph or 160kph?

Some trucks are shipped with A/T tires which aren’t rated for the higher speeds. So the speed is limited from the factory for the OEM tires. I think that other factors are some vehicles with two piece drive-shafts. I believe there’s a famous video of a V6 Mustang that has the drive-shaft come...

    Why no HUD?

Also, anyone who really wants a HUD. There’s some aftermarket solutions which take information from the OBD port. They have the added advantage of customizing which information is displayed. Head Up Displays are basically Victorian era technology. Look up Pepper’s Ghost. They’ve been on cars...

    Why no HUD?

I was hoping someone would bring this up. The Expedition and the Navigator have had coils or air springs for decades, they have similar payload compared to the fully loaded F-150s. Towing capacity is less, though more than most owners will be taking advantage of.

    Front Hitch for 2021 F150

I ordered these off eBay, the 12” length was $20 and the pair of 6” ones were $25: The local steel supplier has blanks but they’re overpriced. I looked for unpainted but painted is fine. I will put up some pictures of underneath the truck next chance I get. I will probably make some...

    Bed Liner Options

Also, it seemed out of the scope of this thread but some trades will also use tongue and groove plywood to cover the bed for a flatter floor, where nails and screws won‘t get stuck like in ribbed plastic drop-in liners and you can sweep the bed clean so debris won’t mar what you need to load...

    Bed Liner Options

I had planned on using nothing at first but after moving some cardboard boxes, I saw that I had managed to scrape the clearcoat, which might not be at its full hardness yet. Also, the friggin’ 8’ bed has the same amount of tie downs as the 5.5’ bed, come on Ford! They can’t pony up for a few...

    Front Hitch for 2021 F150

I just bought some receiver hitch stock off ebay, since I plan on welding something up. The power airdam will indeed interfere with any underslung front hitch. Even if the frame is compatible with prior gen hitches. I plan to mount mine right where the intercooler goes on the turbo trucks...

"Something Big coming to the Ranch" [on Feb. 24] Ford Announcement

Exactly, if they really want to sell more Explorers, they’ll bring back the V-8. Yes, I know that the turbo 6 makes more power but I know a few people that have the Grand Cherokee just because. Same for if a new full-size Bronco ever materializes.

    Why no HUD?

HUDs are proven to increase situational awareness in fighter planes, cars driving around city streets are in a far more dangerous environment and we should all have them as a safety feature. At the very least, you would think it would be another feature to tout on one of the higher trim levels...

    Bed Liner Options

I almost didn’t get anything, since it’s going to be used as a truck and I expect it to get scraped and dented, I really don’t like the plastic bedliners or the spray in stuff, since for certain cargo, it makes it harder to load and then harder to clean. However, I did get a horse stall mat...

    Did you get extended warranty?

I was pretty explicit about not wanting anything added on by the dealer, including any plans or packages. Despite that, the finance guy made a half hearted attempt at selling some extended service plans. The way it was laid out, you could get a second truck. Even their ‘basic’ plan which looked...

    Did you get extended warranty?

I look forward to the warranty expiring so that I can do silly shit to my truck. Or at least that’s what I always think, then I just keep everything stock. With all the technology, if there’s lots of nonsense to deal with during the warranty period, I will either sell or trade before the...

Max Payload Sticker F150 vs F250 gas V8

I don’t think the FX4 with HDPP would have any different ride. Looking at parts.ford, I don’t see any other springs for the 7,850GVWR package. I wanted the extra capacity for when I add a rack and power liftgate, ,maybe even a flatbed eventually. Looking at the other trucks, I knew that after...

That seems to do it temporarily. Then next time you drive the truck, it will be back on.

Set default AC system mode to recirculate?

I only have half a tank through the truck. So far, the recirculate has turned off at the absolute worst moments. Driving around the scenic back roads, it doesn’t shut off, even though; normally I would roll down the windows on a nice day. I don’t see why a tiny module couldn’t be made that...

Set default AC system mode to recirculate?

You will soon discover that recirculate will even turn itself off while you are driving. Ford’s manual says it’s to prevent the windows from fogging up. I am sure that’s a big problem in Florida, just like it is here in AZ! :P

    Hints-tips-tricks for Gen 14

With the halogen headlights, in the city, the brights aren’t effective. They really only make reflections of street signs brighter. I may change my mind when I get to more rural areas, or change out the headlights.

Planning to try and charge my Tesla MX with the 7.2kw generator

I am curious to see how many gallons of gas it would take to fully charge an electric car and just how efficient the F-150 is as a generator. I would at least hope that the Tesla can go farther on a gallon of gas generated by a truck, however, you might be surprised. The real question isn’t...

    Hints-tips-tricks for Gen 14

I just figured out tonight that you can turn off the Auto-High Beams, it’s in the settings under Lights. I don’t know why it’s default setting is on, unless someone else turned on the setting during transit.

    Hints-tips-tricks for Gen 14

I have been trying to figure out what the deal is with the recirc. turning off myself. I had it on last time I took a long drive in the mountains and it never shut off once for the whole 45min. trip. Normally in that case, I would have turned the recirculate off myself to smell the clean...
