  1. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I have a theory of what the DSP update is supposed to fix which might also explain this. There's been a persistent bug with the B&O audio system for a while where if the vehicle is put into reverse before the APIM has a chance to fully boot up while an external media source connected with...
  2. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Here’s a nugget of information I expect will get lost in the forums, but is worth mentioning. This is not sponsored in any way. @MikeYQM I learned Chris Kennedy at Mister Transmission in Moncton New Brunswick is the Canadian representative for Drew Technologies and provides training to shops...
  3. Where is the Power Running Boards module?

I didn't see that on the 13 Gen F150 I was working on at the time, but I was using ForScan instead of FRDS that day. I wasn't looking for the option so maybe it's in ForScan and I overlooked it. In that particular situation, I had attempted something most people will never have the need to try...
  4. Where is the Power Running Boards module?

Sounds like you might have read something I posted a while ago here: 13 Gen PRB Retrofit I'm pretty certain the mapping of pins 1 and 3 are reversed between 13 and 14 gen but now I'm second guessing myself or maybe it doesn't matter. The difference between gearing was based from connecting an...
  5. Emergency Response Guide for PowerBoost F-150

Anyone else notice the vehicle Ford used on the cover page of this document is a diesel and not a PowerBoost?
  6. DTC code P0A1E-00 - hybrid system disabled

I looked at someones XLT PowerBoost F150 with 7.2kWh system this afternoon in a parking lot and proved code P0A1E:00 is a persistent DTC in his truck. His dealership paperwork shows they were unable to find any codes with FRDS 🤷 But at least they went the extra mile and they're trying by...
  7. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

No. It's good for troubleshooting potential faulty touchscreens, TCU or DSP issues and that's about all. In Sync 3, splash screen previews were hidden in the sub menus of the test settings but in Sync 4 that's no longer the case.
  8. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I haven't looked at this thread in a while, but figured it's worth mentioning here a recent APIM update remapped the buttons to enter the APIM and TCU diagnostics. It's now 'power' + 'seek backwards' while audio is playing.
  9. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

That sucks. My fault for being optimistic there would be a simple way to manually validate updates prior to install. I assumed if a file called doesn’t match a file downloaded a validation check would halt the installation process; it’s a tad concerning to read otherwise.
  10. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

The known-good files Jesse listed. Since he identified the problem. Anyone having doubts about updating their BCM can use the info in this thread as a cross-reference right?
  11. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Isn’t there a way to check the software manifest before download and install?
  12. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I haven't encountered the problem, but if someone has a bricked BCM from Ford's bad BCM Battery Configuration update, do you think reverting back to to these .vbf files with ForScan can bring it back from the dead? For reference, this is my PowerBoost's current known-good configuration...
  13. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

There's at least 3 different users in this forum who've bricked a BCM at some point over the last few years. It's true that replacing the BCM will result in another dead BCM. The regular process will load the old corrupt data onto the replacement, but all of those owners got through it even if...
  14. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I haven’t read too much into the bad BCM posts yet. I’m in the process of learning about it. I’ve brought APIM’s back from the dead before and there are a few tricks that could be tried in a last ditch desperate effort to revitalize seemingly brain-dead ECU’s. If the module can be detected in...
  15. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

You can. Temporarily disconnect the 12V battery (12V batteries if PowerBoost) and keep your FRDS session active. I think you missed that halfway through the session you have to reconnect the VCMM to the OBD. I believe the physical bypass skips the calibration validation checks and tricks FRDS...
  16. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I screen-recorded Ford's online tutorials for FRDS as a 101 so new users here can understand what it has to offer. Just have to edit it down to something manageable which will be a weekend project. I will probably keep it off YouTube to avoid any DCMA drama or upload it as a reaction-to video or...
  17. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

How would someone go about updating Sync 4 with internet explorer? This message appears in the Sync section in PTS when looking at a current gen VIN. Can we update Sync 4 manually without FRDS?
  18. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I don't know what 2.7.2 is. My PowerBoost went from 2.7.1 to 2.7.3 so it is possible 2.7.2 only applies to select models or option packages.
  19. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Just out of curiosity, if you go into Sync 4 test mode, (hold seek forward on steering wheel and dash at same time for several seconds while the radio is playing), get into APIM diagnostics and select resolution settings, is your 12" Sync 4 system trying to display the 13" dashcard format...
  20. ECU module programming guide using FDRS

I have a strong suspicion what is going on. I had the exact same thing occur and so did someone else on the other F150 forums. 2.7.3 is an IPC update. After this update installs the IPC attempts to rewrite its as built and fails. The GWM sees a successful update to the target node and reports...
