I spent a lot of time middle man on the bench seat of my best buddies older brother’s truck back in the day, a reg cab F250 (‘88 if memory serves) with 3 pedals and the 300 inline 6, that ol girl did nothing fast but she didn’t need to. I wish we still got em made the same way.
Coming from the Toyota camp that can’t even get a single map to act right without aftermarket help, I’m really happy with Ford coming correct with several options, a 10 speed with gear lockout capability, and a truck that can get out of its own way even on stock mapping.
Evidently this takes...
Honda sells an electrical tape (expensive) that has some sort of ingredient that deters rodents. I came from a Tacoma and for one reason or another, the tree rats got into the engine bay all the time of those trucks, a new post at least every week it seemed like. Most of the time it resulted...
I’d rattle can what you wire brushed bare, let it dry a couple days, and then use fluid film or wollwax a couple times a year. Wollwax stands up to the elements better.
Edit: not familiar with cosmoline, but if it’s a lanolin based rust inhibitor, cool. Just paint the bare metal, let it cure...
As a former Toyota owner in the rust belt, and thus a well-seasoned fluid film/wollwax user - Ford does a great job with their frames but the 14th gen rear axles are a different story. Supplier steel, cheap Chinese pot metal. Only part of my truck to get sprayed, and it needed it, big time...
Ok. So any urethane bushing involved with the install is fine….but anything you broke loose that is rubber/oem for the install bushing wise needs to be torqued at ride height.
Your suspension needs a few hundred miles before you think something is wonky…..unless it’s really bad, you’ll know...
Did you adjust the perch with the weight off the trucks front tires?
Did you torque fasteners at ride height?
Your coil overs shouldn’t do what you described even if there is too much preload.
Icons are also known for the issues you’re having; I.E preloading them to hell and back for their...
A “small town famous” nepo baby in Iowa where I live just got his 2nd DUI fleeing the 5-0 in a Ferrari.
Can’t outrun the radio but I kinda admire his willingness to try to let the car stretch her legs - despite the carelessness and danger - newspaper said it hit 140 right quick and cop cars...
I’d say the next time you get the truck back and it’s “fixed” you trade it off and say bye to the Ford family!
Minus what I’m guessing are lots of details, it sounds like that’s your best path forward. Sorry for your misfortune, and how poorly it sounds like Ford is taking care of you.
Good luck!
Spray some fluid film on it to blend it in and be thankful you have good rust prevention. That’s a weep, you’re not low on fluid, and the axle tube is pressed into the pumpkin. You’ll need a new rear axle to correct it, and I can’t imagine Ford will pony up for one unless there ends up being...
You're not always hearing the same thing sir. There are some noises that are emissions related that occur regardless of where your fob is. What you're hearing all night, as you said, are probably not emissions related sounds, they are the sounds your truck makes when it thinks the driver is...
I’ve watched a few things about intercooler upgrades online and it seems the general consensus is that the aftermarket ones don’t increase peak performance numbers, but they do greatly increase the sustainability of them…..meaning intake temps stay cooler much longer than with the stock setup...
Someone please correct me if necessary, but I think having the fob near or in the truck and approaching it will wake it up. I’ve at least noticed that with mine. Approach lights and clicking relays occur when I come in proximity if I have fob on me, or if it’s sitting in the cupholder, even if...
