Picked it up last week. 2" Readylift and 285/70/18 Ridge Grapplers. Some before and afters.

Are you happy with your tire size selection? I’ve been going back and forth between 285/70 and 295/70 on the same factory rims and an Icon 2” level. What was the impact on your MPG?

Are you happy with your tire size selection? I’ve been going back and forth between 285/70 and 295/70 on the same factory rims and an Icon 2” level. What was the impact on your MPG?

I can get 19-23 if I am taking it easy in town and on secondary roads. Long interstate trips max out around 18-19. I do an interstate trip that is about 25 miles with some town driving too and have been getting 21-22 depending on traffic.

Looking at the tracker statistics, it seems that regular cab 2021 orders are in the minority. I will put up a few pictures of my truck with hopes it will make any others feel less lonely. In a world flooded with crew cab trucks, I had to order mine after a long and fruitless search for 2020’s and even 2019’s. The majority had options that made no sense, or dealer add-ons that I wouldn’t have wanted even if they were free, like tinted windows (most of my driving is at night) or bed liner (I do a lot of work with metal and it just gets stuck on or gouges the liners) and I wanted the V-8 4X4 with 3.73 gears and 9.75 axle. The heavy duty payload package was hard to pass up, so I went with the 8’ bed and it still fits in my small driveway without any effort. It doesn’t look quite as long in person and in fact, I panicked for a moment thinking it was a short bed when I saw it from behind parked in the dealer’s back lot.

Unfortunately, Ford decided that several options aren’t available with the regular cab. I really wanted the LED headlights, 4A transfer case and sliding rear window. I would like to at least get the sliding window, then hopefully some information about adding the OEM LEDs will appear and maybe some day, after the warranty expires, I will feel adventurous enough to swap out transfer cases.

Unloaded, the ride is stiff, though comfortable and on the highway it rides super smooth and quiet. The steering is almost too light and doesn’t have much feedback at low speed. The brakes feel good with a nice stiff pedal. I haven’t gotten any opportunity to use four wheel drive but hopefully will next week.

That’s a sharp looking regular cab and a great color! I have yet to see a new regular cab in Central NY, so I don’t know what folks are doing for a “work truck“. Good luck with the new beast!

Lariat 502A Sport with 20" OEM wheels and full size bed. A canceled order by someone who spec'd it last fall, finally built in Feb. and finally got all the missing chips and such a few weeks ago. I found it a few days after the buyer bailed and grabbed it (was told his financing was rejectedbut who knows...). Luckily it still had pricing levels from when it was ordered.
