This is how one sitting on a lot near me looks. There are 6 F150s on the lot, and this is the only one with any rust.

Mine was not near as bad as others when I picked it up, but now at 1900 miles with some rain, it was increasing so I finally took care of it. I spent no time masking as who cares about some overspray. The spray nozzle if you're skilled is fairly accurate. I used a small piece of cardboard to hold up in places to help with some overspray. I washed with soapy water and rinsed, let it dry. Whole thing took less than an hour. I used Rust-Oleum high temp flat black. Happy with how it turned out, will monitor in the future but expect it to last decently!

My truck was just delivered this week (ordered 2/27) - here is what the underbelly looks like. Did they change the manufacturing or will this rust??

Check the front side that’s usually the side with the rust when new, my back side was clean like yours but the front had some rust on it that slightly grew overtime.

I heard back from my local dealer today to expect my "REPLAEMENT" truck in next 10 days or so.
This repalces the rusted one that was sold to me Jan/Feb 2021. Rusted one was Lariat model with the 3.5 ecoboost with 502A package and many other items. The new one I ordered has additional items on top of the what the original truck had such as: The 3.5L PowerBoost full hybrid, 7.2kw, B/O Unleased audio, and center work surface. Cost will be a few thousand more then the frist truck as I added additional items. Will update the forum once it arrives without rust and drive it home. Original dealer was Metro Ford (Miami) with horrible customer service and Ford of Kendall (Miami) suppling me with the replacement truck with excellent customer service. Still waiting to see if "Ford" factory keeps their word on the costs. Will see in the next couple of weeks... I am keeping my fingers crossed as it took a great amount of work, time and aggravation to get this far these past few months since getting the rusted one, vs. having to file lawsuit.

Yep that's how it is supposed to look. Not like the one I got back on Feb. 1.

I could not agree with you more. Once the new Tundra comes out in 2022 I'll be getting rid of my 2021 $70K F-150 rust bucket. This is the last ford I will ever own. It's a matter of principle. Customer service center gave me the run around for 2 months. Closed my case twice for no reason at all. Never answered nor returned calls or e:mails. Could never even get a position statement by Ford. Only influence I have is to walk away as well as steer others away. That's the way the cookie crumbles I suppose.

I also steered my daughter and her husband away from Ford this year and they ended up with a Toyota 4-Runner limited instead.
same here opened a case with 300 miles on the truck. They originally advised me to take it to the dealer and have them inspect it and send them pictures/case report by them. they kept closing the case for no reason happened 3 times, every time I call I get that the person who started the process will get back to me and never have. Reached out to the dealer and said same thing about hearing back from Ford. It’s been 3 months.

Send letters to the CEO and President, hire a "Lemon Law" attorney. I am getting a replacement truck next week but it took way too much perseverance and time on my part to have a defective product replaced by either the 'POS' selling dealer or the manufacturer. This was a horrible experience and horrible customer service on top of it. I do like the truck and that is why I originally purchased it. But will I ever want to purchase a Ford again most likely NOT.

I've had nothing but issues with mine. Traded it off and happy it's gone. Did well on trade in.

The replacement arrived today, no rust to speak of, will go tomorrow and do the paperwork, return old rusty one and get the new one with no rust. I upgraded in the buy-back to the PowerBoost Lariat with most of the options.

My truck is a 4/1 original build and 6/26 ship date truck. I haven't done a full look of the undercarriage yet, but mine didn't look too terrible from what I saw. From the rear, there's no rust to be seen. I only looked on the driver's side going back and there was a tiny bit of orange/brown showing on the axle, but nothing concerning. I didn't see any on the drive shaft where it connects to the rear diff like others. There was some rust on an exhaust hanger, but I couldn't tell the extent as it was on the passenger side. I was going to take a closer look tomorrow, but it was nothing I feel overly concerned with.

My opinion is that there was probably a batch of axles that just met the paint spec, and with sitting in storage from an early shutdown in production, the oxidation came through. It seems like Ford either started refusing these, reworking them, or changed the coating spec (or a combination) given that pretty much every truck these days seems fine. It will be interesting to see some of the initial KC trucks though given how much downtime they've had there.
