What determines production at either Dearborn or Kansas City?

Curious, if anyone knows if certain trim levels, or engine packages determine which plant the truck is built at. Or is it determine by which location the truck will be delivered to. Know meaning to the question just curious.

I'm probably going to miss some things and this model year is seeing some changes that normally don't happen but generally speaking Dearborn usually does mostly Lariat, Platinum, KR and Limited while KC typically does XL, XLT and Fleet trucks. Pretty sure KC has had to help out Dearborn more than once to build some of the other trims this model year.

Also, as far as I know:

powerboost are only done in Dearborn

space white paint is only done in KC

(Hence we can't configure a space White PowerBoost)

Yep same for me, just going by what I've read. I do remember Smoke Quartz also being only a Dearborn paint. I didn't mention because I don't think (though not sure) SQ is available on the lower trims.

I think the guard colour is only done in KC.

My brother ordered a lariat in lead foot and we are only about 3 hours from Dearborn. It’s being built in KC

I believe my truck was built in Michigan, but it's a powerboost as well.... How can I confirm assembly location? I thought 1FTF in the vin marked it as a Dearborn truck

Actually it's the 11th digit that signifies location of manufacture. F for Dearborn and K for KC.

The first 3 are Ford's World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) and the 4th is Brake System/GVWR/Safety Restraint System types

Guard is also only KC color - So I wasnt able to get my PB in Guard. Velocity Blue instead

Some colors,
some trim levels
some packages.
Regular Cab and 8’ boxes are KCM
HDPP, snow plow prep, CNG prep are also KCM

My XLT 302 A is being built in Dearborn. Although I do have other options that might have moved it to Dearborn, I'm not sure.

I believe Powerboost equipped trucks only come out of Dearborn plant.

As for colors, I know you cannot get a Powerboost painted

1. Space White
2. Race Red
3. Guard green

So Dearborn paint shop cannot 'handle' those colors for whatever reason.

I think Space white is KC only. and some other colors.
6" Extended running boards in accent gray for Supercab are only from Dearborn. (Bummed me out)
