Wow, I must have a fluke but my Supercrew STX FX4 with 3.55 gears riding on stock 20 inch wheels I am getting consistently 23 mpg. I just added a Lomax Tonneau cover and I have already seen a increase in mpg.

I'm glad I read this thread before committing to the 3.5 because the numbers I see here just won;t cut it for me. I drive around 25000 miles per year, mostly highway, and good fuel economy is my top priority. I prefer the design of the 2.7 anyway, but I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough to handle max GVWR in challenging situations, such as mountain passes. I'll probably order a 2.7 XLT supercab with the payload package.

As a side note, it would be helpful to know whether people are quoting mileage reported by the vehicle or if they are calculating it manually because the truck's computer simply is not accurate. Whatever it shows, the actual number is almost certainly worse.

Has anyone figured out how to get into Engineering Test Mode on the 21? I adjusted my 2017's MPG displays (Lie-O-Meter, and both trips) by calibrating the AFE Bias.

Yeah - I think with stock tires and driving in 2H it seems pretty easily achievable as long as it’s relatively flat. I don’t know what the STX comes with for tires stock by the OEM Wrangler tires on my Lariat FX4 were actually pretty good on gas. The Duratracs I put on to get a winter rating - not so much.

FYI last one I did was manually and it was actually higher than the trip computer by about .5mpg, for whatever that is worth. I usually fluctuate +/- .5mpg but literally YMMV.

Just one tank to go by but the computer says 17.5 mpg and I calculated 20.1 mpg on a bone stock truck driving in suburban setting.

14.4 mpg 87 octane on my (stock) Platinum 3.5L EB in stop and go Montreal traffic. Not good, but what do you expect in a big city.. Truck is brand new with about 500 miles on it. Hope it gets better after the break-in.

Basically the same procedure as the previous generation. I did it last weekend.

Edit: I changed mine to 954, it was at 1000

I would have expected better from the v6
I have a v8, 4x4, 3.31, 8ft box SuperCab.
Just under 1000mi and have a lifetime avg of 18.9
About half at around 75/80, and the other half 35-50.
Little city traffic, mostly rural
little update on the v8 overall mileage
im on my third fill up at just a hair under. 2000mi.
lifetime avg is now showing 19.7 on the dash.
the other monitor showed 20.3 for that tank.
actual mileage for the last tank came out to 19.6. About 3/4 of a mile different from what the dash told me.

still creeping up albeit slowly.

Just curious, are most of you with the 3.5EB using regular (87) or premium (91) octane. Owners manual sort of hints at a preference for 91. Just wondering if it makes that much difference? I'm still on my first tank of gas and I'm assuming the dealer didn't spring for premium. Still getting 20 mpg.

I am here in South Florida, which is a totally different climate then Minnesota. I have tested both 87 and 91 with little to no difference. 1/2 to 3/4 mpg. running 18.4 city and 20.1 Hwy.
South Florida is already on the Summer blend, so that could make a difference.

I feel your Pain. My first 1000 miles in South Florida was running 15 mpg. Now I'm close to 4000 miles and starting to see 18.4mpg. In the City I find mpg better using the Eco.

Haven't tried Eco yet. Guess it's time or else I'll have to mortgage sth in order to afford all the gas lol!

I use premium but only because I’m in Colorado and regular is 85 here. Since Ford seems to suggest 87 even at higher elevations I figure play it safe and pony up for the good stuff. 87 technically exists at mid grade but Costco doesn’t carry it and their often doesn’t seem to be a huge price difference between 87 and 91. I’ve lately been getting 22 to 23 highway and 20-21 overall on mostly highway driving with about 4000 miles on it, after being in the 18-19 highway 17 overall range for most of the winter when the truck was brand new. I’ve been running premium the whole time so not sure if it has the most to do with engine break in, weather (including not having to run in 4A regularly for snow), or wearing some rubber off the Wrangler Duratracs I have on it but have definitely seen good improvement over the last few months.

I have just a tick over 1,000 bone-stock miles and so far averaging 20mpg (truck calc) running 87 octane. Best tank was just over 24mpg on a road trip and worst was around 17mpg. I am more than satisfied coming from a 5.4L which rarely surpassed 17mpg.
