Love me some Arby’s!Just got v4.2.1 after driving to and back from Arby’s.
2022 Plat, PB (shipped 6/28/2022)
Got the prompt today and cancelled the install.
I kinda agree with @RickBullotta and @Big Dog Daddy ... If you're truck is running fine and you aren't lacking anything, don't install it.
As a Systems Engineer, far too many times have I seen people rush to get "latest greatest" and then their laptop, phone... whatever gives them problems.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...
Except for that weird speaker thing last week, my truck is flawless. Love it.
If you are hoping to resolve an issue by all means get the updates which sounds like it will gateway other updates.
As for early access, I don't know if my truck is signed up for that or not, only owned it for a couple weeks.
Depends on the update. This is for the gateway, which is basically for all intents and purposes a network router with cellular modem. It interconnects with all of the vehicle's primary data busses.2022 Plat, PB (shipped 6/28/2022)

But you are confusing backend server type stuff with end user devices.See while I agree its good to let people test it and make sure its solid before applying it, I don't agree with the don't fix it if not broke. In software thats backwards thinking. Sony is a really good example of this, they got caught with their pants down on their PlayStation's. They didn't update software for years, even though it was open source and freely available. They were many versions behind and well, that lead to them being hacked. It ended up costing them millions. So I can see not installing it right away, but updates should be applied because there may be patches in there to fix security things too.
I understand, but with that said and granted this was a VERY rare and extreme incident. But a couple of years ago Palo Alto pushed out a firmware update on one of their firewalls. It literally killed the firewall. We couldn't even get in to perform a restore and of course of ALL CLIENTS we did not have an emergency pre configured firewall as backup. We we down for just less than a day as they overnighted us a new firewall... But that was also 'just' an upgrade to a gateway device.Depends on the update. This update precedes a larger update that's coming. A similar procedure was used on the MME before it got a pretty radical Ui overhaul.
Using that logic, I shouldn't even drive my truck, there is a chance I may get into an accident and total it or be without it for weeks/months while it's being repaired. Who's to say that the engine won't just grenade itself when it starts up the next time. People here (and everywhere) do crazy stuff because something happened once, or they read about it happening hundreds or thousands of miles away, or had a friend tell them something once. If you don't do something because of potential negatives that are out there, you shouldn't do anything at all. From what I'm reading half the trucks on this site are "locked in update purgatory" and can't receive updates. So who's to say something like that couldn't happen again? To a healthy truck?
Yes I always turn off auto updates on all my devices.... Still not installed as of this morning. You can't stop the 4.2.1 update. It happens automatically. I drove to the store yesterday. Was in for about 10 minutes. Got in my truck and saw that it had applied an update. No heads up or install choice. Some updates that are "conditional" will prompt you. But updates like this won't. If you turn off automatic updates, then maybe they won't install without your input. A lot of gateways were having an issue and losing connectivity to cellular. I believe this address that. Time will tell.
