That looks like how it was on the 15-20 models. It was a pain. Maybe watch a YouTube showing that year steering wheel removal:

Ahhhhh - I noticed what looked like springs in the ebay photos (there are 4 2021+ limited wheels on ebay right now) but couldn't figure how you would get to them. Tiny holes on the side. I would never have found those on my own.
Yep, you have adaptive steering, curious if you wheel is equipped with heat or not now.

Starting to feel your pain...

The ML3Z-3600-RA wheel includes the adaptive cruise control button correct? If so, I am thinking that doing the heated wheel, 360 co-pilot assist 2.0, and auto wipers at the same time is a good idea so I only need to pull the airbag and steering wheel once.

Yes, it does include the adaptive cruise button

Yes that's correct. Just, before you start, save in Forscan the As Build data from your stock parts (HVAC, SCCM, ...) before replacing them with the new ones you got.

I am also new to Forscan. Is this a software I can buy from somewhere? Or do I have to go to the Ford dealership to get it done?

You need to download on your computer, it's free with a 3 months temporary license. You also will need a USB OBD link adapter to connect to your truck.

Finished my heated steering wheel retrofit today! My 402A Tremor needed the SCCM, HVAC controller with heated wheel button, and a new steering wheel with the heating elements. I knew about the SCCM and controller, but was surprised that it didn't have the heated wheel since it seems higher trim levels are still coming with the heated wheel.
For Tremor owners, the steering wheel part # is ML3Z 3600 VA (Bluecruise compatible). It's listed at $673, but can be found in the low $400s if you look around. Not sure why ours is so much more than the Lariat's, must be special spiders making that orange thread! Sure glad I got that $140 rebate from Ford (n)
I think I did figure out a quick way to tell if you have the heated steering wheel elements. The heated wheel has a little "sponginess" to it and the non-heated wheel has no give at all. Very scientific.
Glad to be done with this one. Thanks to everyone on this thread, it wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be. You're info and discussions helped a lot.

Interesting. Just started and my 402a steering wheel is not heated either. I am putting in a Raptor wheel though so no big deal.

I will be posting a wire harness for the heated wheel for sale though as I don’t need that. Luckily mine is already wired for it.

Forscan takes 5 min. Taking half the truck dash apart and putting it back together without breaking anything takes hours. I had to do it 3 tries, due to missing parts, and whatnot. Ended up breaking a lot of plastic tabs and ran the wire like a 5 year old... I am surprised people do the swap in a breeze but struggle with Forscan  .

I have been enjoying the heated wheel, though.

Hey all, I’m looking to begin this project on my 22 Xlt 302a.
I got this Raptor wheel, confirming it has heated steering? I’m going to go with the soft button in the screen so only thing left is a SCCM? Anyone have that part number off hand? Then a little Forscan action and we got some warm hands!

The circled connector is for the wheel heat, so yes, it is a heated wheel

Also of note, there appears to be a difference in the SCCM on the raptor vs other trims. Make sure you verify that whatever SCCM you end up with also supports the control on the raptor wheel, unless you plan to swap the controls
