Update: Detroit Free Press has written an article on the 12v battery drain issue
-- https://www.freep.com/story/money/c...-ford-f-150-pickups-battery-drain/6753464002/

I launched the FordPass app today and my truck is in Deep Sleep Mode. I was in the truck yesterday morning with the engine running. Seems like a very short time. Does anyone know what is the criteria for the vehicle to enter this mode?

The information should be in the service manual for electrical trouble shooting. I know that on my Lincoln, a bunch of modules run for exactly 45min. before turning off and even afterward, it still draws more current than my other vehicles, despite being in spec. I can only imagine on the newer trucks.

Many people have been reporting their batteries being weak from the start and reading less than 12v. If that is the case, I imagine that the Deep Sleep mode will activate fairly soon. A bad battery won’t keep a charge very long.

One of the best ways to see if your battery is weak is how much the voltage drops when you crank the engine over.

I’ve got a voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter that works great for testing batteries as well as diagnosing charging system problems. They really ought to have a digital volt readout on the dash.

My truck went in to deep sleep mode once and the only way to bring it back to life was a jump start. Had to use the physical key in the fob to open the door.

Thanks for the feedback. I have joined the dead battery club. I just saw the other post on this and did not put two and two together.

Are all these dead battery issues related to the PB trucks or all they all from Dearborn?

I’m beginning to wonder if it is a “bad battery lot” or a wiring harness issue.

Just trying to narrow it down some

Mine is from Dearborn, built on 11/24 with the 2.7.

Okay, I guess if it is not PB only, that could be taken out of the equations.

If not a lot of batteries failing, I can see it being a harness issue.
I wonder if those are outsourced.

Mine truck is a 3.5 ecoboost built in Dearborn on 1/18/2021. Dead as a door nail today. Drove the truck this past Sunday on a 100 mile trip.

Over on the FSA 21B08 thread, it was reported by a member that his dealer said this flash was to deal with a certain condition that would drain the battery in 17 hours.

I been reading - researching this deep sleep mode. A lot of information that I found dates back to 2017 with Ford F150 owners + other Ford models. The results I found all centered around weak (neededing charge and/or dead batteries). So with the comments on getting a flash message through Ford Pass today - maybe Ford found a contributing factor. Hope it solves the issue.

Tracking - I have it already on my list. I have a larger one in the garage - but want a compact one. I have the GB150 and the Foxwell 715. Foxwell is going to the dealership when they deliver the truck. Going to run a batty & charging teset before signing ofr my truck. Also going to warn the service manger about Rust & Weak Ass batteries.
