Yeah, I had some on the axle and shock mount. I sprayed some undercoating on it. I'm i the south so no salt but still didn't like see that on a new truck.

Rusty rear end is inevitable for me. I don’t like it but there’s not much I can do.

My undercarriage looked very clean when I picked it up, but that was 2 months ago. I’m afraid to look now.

Undercoating doesn't last?

I’ve actually never tried doing that to be honest. I’m thinking that the salt would eventually win the battle, but I could be wrong about that.

Same here. There is absolutely no paint on the rear diff so rust is inevitable. I bathed everything in fluid film yesterday to get me through the winter. Will spray some rustoleum in the summer.

The suspension deep dive video someone shared had a truck with a noticeable amount of rust. I was going to say something but being in AZ, I‘m accustomed to not seeing any rust.

One thing I plan on doing when receiving my order is a complete inspection, including the undercarriage.

A friend in the Northeast had a new diesel truck bought for him by his significant other, he was excited for a couple days until he looked underneath and noticed that the frame was not only rusty but had signs of an animal living under it, with scratches, claw marks and gravel between the body and frame. Turns out that the truck had been on the lot for a while and they had it parked in a field. Luckily, he channeled his frustration in the appropriate way and was able to secure a better truck along with a discount.

There’s a few products using sheep lanolin as a rust inhibitor and in the old days it was common practice to spray used motor oil under cars and trucks. Whatever anybody does though, don’t use any rubber undercoating, it’s the worst and makes things much worse.

Had the truck two weeks in Tx. Powerboost platinum. I thought this was a bit too much rust for a 75k sticker priced truck.

Wow that seems ridiculous for any vehicle these days let alone $75k truck. Can anything be done by Ford?? Or are we all stuck dealing with this on our own?

Adam I agree, that seems like pretty heavy rust for a truck in TX. Do you know what the build date was on your truck? I wonder if it was built very early and sat outside in Detroit for months before shipping? Still seems like a bunch of rust though. That would be hard to clean up laying on your back in the garage or driveway.

Yes it was submitted to ford yesterday service said could take a week or two for a response. I'm sure they will address it.

11/20 in Dearborn. It sat out there on ramp for quite a while on the inspection hold.

Good to know they'll address it but just seems like an oversight to not have some sort of protection in those areas. Every truck will rust there eventually, so getting it addressed while under warranty is important

I have a similar issue, my truck took two weeks from build date to delivery, so it’s not like it was sitting outside for months. All I can think of is maybe the convoy transport was open and exposed and it was covered in salt water for a week. Here is what mine looks like brand new.
