Just had my truck fixed on Tuesday. Waited 6 weeks for the clamps to show up. Dealer got me in and repaired it by cleaning/greasing the area and installing new clamps. Been driving it for a few days now and haven't heard the clunk since.

Ford finally wrote a service bulletin on Sept. 03 , 2021 about repair.
Stay on them , I did and Ford took care of me.

Guys, I'm new to this forum but I purchased a brand new 2018 F-150 Super Crew Cab 4x4 in April of 2019 which was a leftover 2018. To date 3/18/22 I only have 13,800 miles on it and I have had an experience with that hollow sounding noise in the rear especially on the right side when going over an uneven surface or curb. Took it to my Ford dealer and they had it 1 week trying to locate the issue. They pulled the right axle and checked also the bearings etc. Long story short, Ford advised them to replace both leaf springs which they did and the noise stopped. After about 1000 miles since being replaced they are making the same noise again. I believe replacing the springs is not the answer but some sort of spring grommet or bushing. If anyone else is experiencing this in the truck let me know your thoughts or what is the source of the noise. Thanks for all of your assistance.

You might try these, but these don’t work on the new gen 2021-22 f-150’s. New leaf spring design is causing the issue on the new ones. I sold mine with the 2 leafs and got a max tow with 3 leaf springs and no more issues.

Has anyone determined whether or not this could actually be gas sloshing around?

I think it's a possibility after rocking the truck from side to side while standing on the running boards.

I had leaf springs replaced on my 2015, definitely don't want to have to do that again... but it seems mine is making the same dull clunking on uneven surfaces at low speeds.

So many noises and rattles in my last 2 Ford trucks it's a little embarrassing.

From early on in this thread someone said they turned the LSD on/off. What is the LSD?

I have the identical issue in my 2017 xlt 4x4 5.0 5.5' ved supercrew with tow and payload packages without lsd (e-locker in rear). Single alarming clunk once when backing into it out of inclined driveway that started out of nowhere at about 41000. I started by checking ball joints tie rod ends sway bar linkages and all torques on front suspension all are good and I paid a specialist shop to check front suspension on their own with same conclusions. Am trying the atq leaf spring pads, and torquing existing u bolts as needed, and maybe greasing/ replacing u bolts next. Just chiming in that for me I seem to have this exact issue on a 2017, and signing up for email alerts. Thanks everyone.

This is the noise I’ve been dealing with in the rear end. Dealership though it was coming from the driver side rear axle shaft. They replaced it. Just over 1000kms and not even a month later the noise is still there n driving me insane check out my video on YouTube

I have a 2021 and had the same clunking noise, everything was torqued to spec and no broken parts.
I had this same issue on two Tacomas (2010 and 2020), I applied Fluid Film to the Leaf springs and it made the noise go away on all three trucks.

I have some of the same issue, took to dealer last week, service adviser said tech could not find or hear a clunk. When the truck is parked you can rock the bed and it really makes the clunking sound. You can stand on the bumper and jump up and down it won't do it. It has to move side to side. Driving very slow over uneven ground will make it clunk. I have checked under, torque leaf spring bolts, nothing! Anyone have this clunk by rocking the bed? My dealer is 125 miles away, so I need to be prepared before I go next time. 2021 F150 Lariat 5.0 maxtow

I’ve just noticed when going ho or down hill and hitting bumps my 2021 is doing this. I suppose it’s time to call the dealer and give them the tsb number. Hopefully it gets taken care of.

Here is the audio of the clunking/popping noise I'm hearing while turning up a steep angle if it's anything similar to what you're hearing. As mentioned this was decently steep, I hear the noise on less steep inclines as well (sometimes pulling into my driveway) with a softer clunk that what I posted:

But yes same here, If I go straight over bumps I don't hear the noise.
I wonder if its part of problem rear axle bolt shearing and rolling and clunking around housing
