Anyway I'm learning as I go. No expert, I know enough to know I don't know enough.
Getting awesome help from other forum members and local shops, club instructors/members.
Did a little off-road, little family camping, little build work. Thanks Stage3 Frank etc.
Then I signed up for this Overland clubs Skill Builder day this weekend.
A fun totally insane baptism by fire !!!
Put the F150, ridge grapplers, RCI skids and driver to the test. OMG
So thought I'd share and invite anyone else who wants to share their experiences, plans etc. with Gen14 or anything. What works, what doesn't. - in this new section: Overlanding, Off Roading, Backcountry, Camping, Family Fun Outings
I ran my XLT with basically just Ridge Grapplers and RCI front engine plates. (Awesome!)
Lessons learned: Need more plates, min 2.0 level kit, more seat time. ha ha
Scraped about everything possible, air dam, bumper, skid plates, lower control arms, transmission cross member, Diff. LOL Go out with folks who know what the heck they are doing.
Buried her up to the axles, learned many recovery lessons.
This Newb was terrified and excited. Working towards comfortable and competent
