It's the GT500's motor so nothing really special. LOL at the torque optimized pulley. The nonsense their marketing team comes up with.

It’s the most “special” powertrain Ford has made to date to be put into a production vehicle.

The Voodoo 5.2 may have a word about that.
idk, the 5.0 in the Mustang is now only 25 horsepower shy of the voodoo engine, and a heck of a lot more reliable. The Voodoos had some issues with that flat plane crank.

Voodoo 5.2L:
526 horsepower/ 429 lb ft

5.0L HO Coyote (2024+):
500 horsepower/ 420 lb ft

5.2L Predator:
760 hp (GT500) 700 hp (R)/ 640 lb ft

True. Power wise; things always get better. But that sweet sweet sound and 8250 redline mated to that sweet sweet Tremec.
dont get me wrong, the 5.0 is almost at the same power and i'm sure ford could put that power to that motor from factory. oh, and it sounds great...

but that VOODOO was mesmerizing to listen to! its a damn shame they dont offer it still.

Motor Trend listed the Voodoo as one of the top 10 underrated HP engines at closer to 600 HP. It’s an awesome engine and some had some issues, but that thing ran hard. It’s not a drag car but a track car. Got to beat the heck out of Ford‘s GT350s at Charlotte Speedway after I bought mine. The Tremec had taller gears down low but when it went above 3,500 hang on. Coming off the banks accelerating over 140 was priceless.

Reminds me of "military grade aluminum". But hey, if the sh_ _ sticks, who can blame the Mad Men for going with it.🤦‍♂️

Which is fascinating because the Ford GT uses the 3.5L. I'm not sure which is faster, as C&D's track tests often put the revamped American muscle cars around the top end Porsches on Laguna Seca lap times.

I have a secret fantasy of taking the power train out of my PB when she dies, having it rebuilt and stuffing it into a '68 Mustang with IRS/built frame, composite body, new discs etc c. I almost bought a pristine stang that was on sale for $20k, but I've got nowhere to store it. I would have to call her Evelyn, as the original Gone in 60 Seconds director's widow sues anyone who names a Mustang Eleanor.

I've been pondering ways to supplement the PB like placing a motor on the opposite side of the prop shaft on the transfer case -- or possibly trying to find the larger motor from the PHEV side and incorporating it with its inverter and a larger batt. I just need a device that can stop time so I can play with everything I want to play with. It'd probably take $1mil to commercialize something but there wouldn't be a customer base to justify it. It'd require too many parts to do it backwards to the other motors, but the PB has enough electronics to be able to fool the truck into making an upgraded system work. It's just a matter of faking the variables the factory components see.

I'm surprised ford performance hasn't been given a wider margin to play around with electric supplementation on the current trims. There's so much potential here. It's like "guys, you don't have to take the prius approach to hybrid, you can make some really cool toys with a giant set of balls attached". Instead of worrying about beefing up the 10spd, they can put a motor at the output shaft with a planetary reduction on it.

For size reference, this is the mach-e's 210kw motor (~288hp, 320tq). (rotor on the wood, stator behind it to the left of the diffs)

In general American muscle = V8, that is the Mustangs trademark. The GT was all about aero and weight, the 5.2 is a 90 degree double overhead cam V8 much like the 5.0 (well based on the 5.0) and likely a bit wide for the GT. The GT-500 is a heavier muscle car with a wide track over the front wheels ~ you can stuff a big V8 there. For 2024 Ford is sending the new GT3 and GT4 cars to LeMans which have the 5.0L Coyote under the hood. We haven’t been given power output figures yet, Ford only confirmed they are sending “a Coyote V8 based engine”. The GT3 and GT4 race cars are based on the upcoming S650 Mustang, so no issue going back to a V8 between the fenders for fitment.

The 5.0L V8 and the engines based upon it are power dense and advanced compared to the competitions offerings. I wish Ford was allowed to use the 5.0L or 5.2L in nascar, the newer 4-valve V8 family can breath so much better in upper revs than the pushrod motors the competition still puts in everything. I love that my 5.0 Ford can run away from a 5.7 Hemi and run right next to my aunts 6.2L V8 in her GMC. 4-valves with dual injection and a high compression ratio really are magical, all the way to 7,000 rpm :)

Oh no, the Predator engine, I suffered with that 2022 GT500 with so many problems and then had to dump an 120K vehicle
