I just finished installing a new set of Katzkin leather seats in my XL. This post isn’t a how-to guide, there are videos on Youtube that will provide a better visual for that. This is merely to recommend it to anyone interested in doing it themselves as it was a very straightforward DIY friendly install (thank you Ford) and I completed the entire interior in one day. The number one thing that makes it so easy is there are zero hog rings used to attach the seat covers in both the front and rear seats. The covers simply snap in to the foam using plastic clips and velcro. As long as you have a Torx set that goes up to T-50 then you’re set with a basic set of tools.
Here are a few pictures, they are full leather with perforated centers and black backs and sides. I haven’t worked any of the wrinkles out yet, these went straight from the box onto the seats. I know it’s better to lay them out in the sun first, but that’s likely 4 more months away. I’ll be steaming them later today to work some of the wrinkles out, but first I’m finishing the wiring for the heated seats.
Be warned your fingers will be very sore after finishing
