"Canopy is a new a breakthrough vehicle security technology created as a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and ADT. It helps protect vehicles by combining advanced artificial intelligence with self-installable security systems or the cameras on future Ford vehicles. Canopy is coming in 2023."

Haha, great, I can't wait for adt to get all my info from Ford so they can harass me about a home security system
Having had an ADT security system I can also tell you from experience that there is not going to be a police car rushing to check on the open bed of your pickup like the video shows. Someone might drive by in the next 24-48 hours.

Agree! Why not utilize the tech that is already installed by way of software updates? Cameras should be able to broadcast up to cloud servers and record to view through FordPass. Make it an additional monthly subscription for additional revenue flow.

I think what tesla does on their cars is an amazing thing. Tesla has built in dashcam and security monitoring your car when you're not inside of it. It records with all the cars cameras and gives you almost all necessary angles. If anything happens to your car while your away it records and saves the footage to a usb locked in the glovebox.

I do wonder if some of the vehicle off stuff requires a bigger battery. I.e., might be possible with hybrid but may be too much of a battery drain with conventional engines. With proximity sensors could run with car battery because cameras mostly off but otherwise you need to record 24/7 for visual motion detection which may be a bit of a drain on standard battery.
