OK, just for a little insight, I ordered 2 trucks, one for my son and one for my daughter. I was given this letter by my dealer a week after receiving my daughter's truck. My son's truck is still on hold. I do not know if I received it for the delivered truck or the one still on hold.

Hello Scott,

First off, thank you for ordering an all-new 2021 F-series.

And look, we know F-Series owners understand a thing or two about accountability. Showing up for your family, for your community, for your business is one of the most important things you do.

We share that belief here in Dearborn, which makes this update all the more difficult. Unfortunately, delivery of your new 2021 F-Series is delayed.

Covid-19 supply base challenges combined with the global semiconductor chip shortage are impacting our ability to keep up with demand.

That's no excuse, but it is a reality. One we're rolling up our sleeves to tackle every day.

We want you to know how sorry we are, and that we're working day and night to fix the situation. We're looking at every option to get trucks into driveways sooner.

Rest assured that the delayed delivery of your truck isn't related solely to the date you placed your order. These delays are related to the supply problems created by the chip shortage.

We also want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and loyalty. On top of other incentives that you might qualify for, we'd like to give you a $100 Amazon Gift Card.

We are working nonstop to get your truck to you as soon as possible and we're committed to keeping you and your dealer updated on the situation. This isn't just logistics to us, it's about honoring an agreement between you and each worker on the line, at the dealership, and with the Ford Truck Team. An agreement that says every truck we build is Build Ford Tough. Simple as that.

SIncerely,

The Ford F-Series Team.

My dealer forwarded me an email from Ford corporate. It's the same letter OP posted but with a link to sign up for the $100 amazon gift card. It's only take 3+ months of parts shortage for Ford to acknowledge it to it's waiting customers but at least it's something. I'm gonna use my $100 to buy Husky mats

Yes, mine had the link to get the card, I just left that out of the post as I am not sure who qualifies. It required me to put in the email address that I used when I placed my order.

Label me an azzhole if you must but I'm saying it's an insult!
I ordered 18 September, warranty ran out on current truck end of January, so I hardly drove it.
Truck went into production 18 March, sat until mid June.
It's finally in transit, by the time I drive it ten months will have passed!!
Two thousand for extended warranty on current truck and the therapy sessions with Captain Morgan were not cheap!!
I actually was happy with that letter until the fricken insult!!
Sorry for the rant but there was no communication from Ford, I knew it wasn't there fault, but they could have treated us as customers.

No arguments here that it could have been handled differently. Situation was FUBAR on all ends from the start.

I placed my order on 5/1 and my dealer keeps saying no updates. I totally agree about the $100 insult. There are other things they could do: 1) Extend the factory warranty by a year, 2) Offer some upgrades to the build, 3) reduce the cost of the build, 4) for those that opted for the hands free driving, don't require them to pay the additional charge when the software is released later this year, 5) make a payment or two for us, 6) offer a ridiculously low interest rate, etc. These are all in-house fixes, which would be easier to absorb the cost. They may not apply to everybody, but they would have a greater impact than $100 Amazon GC.

But what they really need to do is to set up a phone line where those that have placed an order can call and get personalized updates and ask questions. It isn't that difficult to communicate.

On a side note, this is my first experience with ordering a custom vehicle, my first pick-up since my '95 Ranger, and my first luxury vehicle ever (Platinum trim). I think I would be going bonkers not knowing anything and waiting. But this site has put a lot of my thoughts, excitement, and disappointments into context.

So they are basically giving us a Free tank of gas .... wow. I'd rather have something internally offered as rob/thevofl stated above, which would've felt a whole lot more sincere. Mine just got built a few days ago (ordered 2/5/21) so we'll see once it ships out, 7/23 ETA.

Heck, I was just happy they finally sent out some sort of attempt at acknowledging the problem. The $100 is a bonus. As I see it, Ford is already going to lose their tails this year due to lack of sales, not sure how much they can offer on the few vehicles they are going to be able to produce and sell. I mean even if they give $100 to each of the 30 or 40k trucks parked, that amounts to 3 or 4 million as it is.

So - I never got this email. I’ve been waiting on a truck since October. Any idea why?
